Diavolo's Tomes
The current guide to coding and building on Merentha MUD: today's tooling, today's directory layout, today's conventions. Where the Textbooks and Tutorials teach the language and its history, these Tomes teach how to build in the modern day.
Foreword
Descartes' Textbooks and Petrarch's Tutorials are the foundation this MUD was built on, and they are worth reading. They are also old: Descartes wrote his LPC manuals around 1993, Petrarch's recipes are nearly as dated. Both the language and Merentha MUD have moved in the years since. Treat them as history and grounding, not as current instructions.
Where the Tomes conflict with anything in the older sections, the Tomes win. When we reference the old material, we will link to the specific chapter that still holds and modernize anything that does not.
