The Little Shaman

The Little Shaman that Tried

There once lived a little Shaman named Feb, who was small and alone. For you see, in the land where he lived there were many Rangers and many Scholars and many Warlocks, but he was the only Shaman. He travelled from town to town, each time asking, ‘Have you seen any other people like me?’, but every time the answer was no. Some people made fun of Feb because he was different. ‘We do not like you’, some people would say, ‘you are different, no one wants to be like you.’ When this happened Feb would become sad and leave. He would go to the next village where again he would look for other people like himself. One day Feb came to the city of Whitestorm. It was a large town with many people, and in the center of town was a large white statue of a unicorn. Everyone in the town liked that statue. People looked at Feb weirdly. ‘You are different’, they said.
‘I am a Shaman’, Feb answered, ‘Have you seen anyone else like me?’ The people laughed at Feb because he was different and ran off to play without him. While Feb was in that town some bad people named the Asmar came and caused a lot of trouble. Before they left the Asmar destroyed the statue which everyone loved. People tried to put the statue back together but they could not. No one had the skills to rebuild it. The Rangers tried, but they were good guiding people through the forest, not fixing statues. The Clerics tried to fix the statue, but they were good at healing sick people, not statue fixing. Even the Berserkers who were good at protecting the city from enemies tried, but they could not fix the statue either. Finally after everyone else had tried, Feb tried to fix the statue. But he could not either. Everyone went home to sleep for the night. Everyone was sad that their statue was broken. Feb did not go home though. He stayed all night long and tried to put the statue back together. When it got dark he used a magical orb to light the town square so he could see what he was doing. In the morning the people of Whitestorm woke up and looked outside. They could not believe what they saw, their statue was back together, all perfect like nothing had ever happened. They ran out to the square to look at the statue which was now just like brand new. ‘How did this happen?’, someone asked, ‘Who fixed the statue?’ Someone else answered, ‘It was that little Shaman named Feb, I saw him working here last night, all night long.’ ‘Horray for Feb’, people shouted, ‘Horray!’ Feb was now their hero even though he was different. They looked for Feb but could not find him. He had already left for the next town, looking for more people like himself.
